The origins of the business date back to 1993 with the founding of JeffreyGroup, which has specialized in serving multinational companies and brands in Latin America for more than 25 years with public relations, marketing and public affairs consulting.
Jeffrey Sharlach, the original founder of JeffreyGroup, is the Managing Partner of Intercom Americas. Brian Burlingame, who has worked closely with Jeffrey since 2000, is a partner in the holding company and serves as CEO of JeffreyGroup. In addition Intercom Americas owns Webfluentials, a cross-company influencer content marketing service; PubTracker, a multi-platform tracking and analytics service; and Axeso, a specialized business consultancy.

Jeffrey Sharlach is Managing Partner of the holding company Intercom Americas and serves as Chairman of JeffreyGroup, the Latin America agency he founded in 1993.
Prior to moving to Miami to launch JeffreyGroup in 1993, Jeff held senior management positions during a 15-year career in New York at top international agencies. He was Executive Vice President for International Operations at the Rowland Worldwide division of Saatchi & Saatchi, Vice President and Client Service Manager for Burson-Marsteller, and Vice President and Worldwide Creative Director for Carl Byoir & Associates. Trained as both a journalist (B.S.J., Northwestern) and an attorney (J.D., New York University) Jeff has developed and managed communications programs for many multinational clients throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Since 2007 he has also been an Adjunct Associate Professor of Management Communication at the New York University Stern School of Business specializing in corporate communication and is author of the popular Huffington Post Business Blog “Communicating.”
Brian Burlingame is a partner in the holding company Intercom Americas, and is CEO of JeffreyGroup, the leading independent marketing and communications agency helping companies and organizations inform, engage, motivate and persuade audiences throughout Latin America.
Brian has been with JeffreyGroup since 2000, overseeing the firm’s investment, development and growth in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, where it operates owned offices. Additionally, Brian manages the agency’s relations with its contracted partners throughout the Americas. His expertise in the Latin American arena has been developed over a 20+ year career living and working throughout the region.
Prior to joining JeffreyGroup, Brian served as national marketing manager for a privately-held environmental technology company, completed an expatriate marketing assignment for a global mining company, and worked internationally in a negotiations management position for one of the largest U.S. insurers. Brian holds a MBA and Masters in International Business from the University of Miami, a Bachelor of Science in International Business from Missouri State University, and speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese.
